Our Projects
The largest project identified by the Foundation in 2014 is the Union Gardens Infant School, which is currently under construction, with a projected completion date of August 2015, in time for the new school year. This 9,000 sq. ft. facility will serve 150 students aged 3 to 5 years. It is being built to global standards for early childhood education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Early Childhood Commission (ECC). When completed, it will be handed over to the Ministry of Education.

The occasion was the official handover of a neonatal unit to the hospital’s paediatric ward by the Foundation on Friday, November 20. In addition to the donation of neonatal care equipment, the Foundation assisted in retrofitting a section of the Paediatric Ward into a small nursery.
In 2013, the management team of Kirk Distributors Limited (KDL), was seeking to identify a meaningful community project in one of the low income communities nearby its offices. In their discussions with representatives of Union Gardens, it emerged that the community was in dire need of a suitable early childhood learning facility.

In June 2014, the Cari-Med & Kirk Distributors Foundation refurbished and retrofitted the Computer Lab at the Brandon Hill Primary School in Clarendon. This is in keeping with the Foundations’ major thrust – education, especially at the Early Childhood Level.
